Renovating sixties house on the puddles
Renovation Ruddy tail
The robust sixties house was still almost in original condition when our clients bought it. It had to be light and quiet with a great view of the Westeinderplassen, which borders the garden. There was also a desire for space to accommodate guests. Our plan provided for a complete “renovation” of the house. To this end, a completely new layout was made with a large loft in the living room. In addition, the living space was increased by expanding the rear door by a meter and a half and the garage was included in the house. The former garage was given a new use as a guest / study and bathroom. The floor has a large landing in open connection with the loft in the living room. Here are the master bedroom with adjoining bathroom, two children’s rooms and the children’s bathroom.
The house was also given a completely new facade finish, in which the cedar slats stand out. The greatest care has been taken in the detailing. This is visible at the front door and the electrically operated sun blinds in combination with the horizontal cedar slats. These interventions have changed the sixties house beyond recognition.
Stylish Living has published a report about this large-scale renovation in the March / April 2015 issue.
