Renovation of Country House

Renovation of a country house in Heemstede. A beautiful job done with love for authentic elements. The exterior of the home was restored to its former glory; the interior received a complete redesign with beautiful high ceilings. The first floor has two “halls. One at the front where the hall has a large glass partition to accommodate the wardrobe on the one hand and to provide access to the living room on the other. To the side of the home is a formal front door, where the hallway connects flush to all adjacent rooms. Here again, glass doors were used to accentuate the vistas and the connection between the different spaces. Instead of the “lofty” mansion it was, it now has the separate rooms with a grand spatial effect. In the second hall, a lion’s head adorns the toilet door. An eye catcher with a bent element which was an invention of the client himself and I could only applaud.

In the large open living kitchen, the high ceiling features an acoustical ceiling, making the atmosphere feel cozy as soon as you enter. Moooi’s wallpaper immediately catches the eye and gives the space extra “look”. The long wall features a walnut custom cabinet, which again features steel display case doors. The wood-burning fireplace is always on, which is part of country house life as is the large modern dining table where everyone gathers. From the living kitchen there is a surrounding view of the surrounding garden and pastures. The lighting and switchgear is consistently done in black throughout. The herringbone floor with piping runs throughout all rooms and also connects these rooms.

Upstairs, the rafters were brought back into view and painted a beautiful anthracite. This reflects the authentic character of the mansion. All in all, a comfortable atmosphere in a beautiful setting.
