The assignment consisted of converting an empty space into a work, sleeping and sitting area, combined with a dressing room and bathroom. Essentially, a luxurious hotel atmosphere had to be created.

The open space itself was left completely empty. A sober pallet of materials was chosen, where the tone is set by the application of warm and natural materials. A natural oak parquet floor was chosen for the floor in combination with dark smoked oak cabinets. The sober gray of the walls, together with touches of natural stone, brings balance and tranquility to the whole. The walls are finished with a ‘crushed velvet’ lime technique, for the natural stone they opted for ‘Brecia Alba’. All possible functions were incorporated in custom furniture that together form a beautiful uniform whole. The space is characterized by a centrally placed ‘smart furniture’ that accommodates functions such as working, sleeping and sitting. All techniques such as lighting, air conditioning, ventilation, heating and alarm can also be operated from this furniture. The open roof structure was completely covered with an acoustic stretch ceiling.

Various access doors as well as the air conditioning and heating were incorporated in the dressing room. The open slot above the cabinet wall functions as a plenum and rail system for the cabinet doors that lie in the same plane. You enter the bathroom through one of the doors. The same sober palette of materials was continued here. The toilet and all functions were incorporated in the washbasin furniture, so that the attention to this is tempered.

Indirect lighting applied in the mirror emphasizes the architectural lines of the room. Everything is perfectly aligned and coordinated. Seams of the tiling continue in the joint of a cupboard door, which in turn continues in a seam of the mirror, which in turn is aligned with the retombée of the suspended ceiling. Every detail has been thought through so that everything forms a harmonious whole.
