Salty interior with three stars
Chef Viki Geunes’ three-star restaurant Zilte moved to another location in the MAS museum in 2020, with spectacular views of the Antwerp skyline. The new interior is the result of a collaboration of architectural firm M2 Architects led by Philip Mortelmans with Devos Interieur. Chef Viki Geunes followed the works closely: “The interior of our restaurant is very important. We wanted a business that radiated intimacy and invited cocooning. Hence the choice of natural materials, such as the marble and wood, and warm textures. We based the color selection on the shades in the marble.”
The location of Zilte restaurant is unquestionably spectacular, affirms Viki Geunes. “We wanted to make sure our guests could all enjoy the view, within their familiar cocoon. We therefore designed small compartments, on different levels, so that everyone has a view of the horizon. We had an excellent collaboration with the architect and Devos Interieur for this. They understood very well the feeling we wanted to radiate, and filled it in with color and choice of materials. And they also took functionality into account, not unimportant in a space where work is done at a high level – literally and figuratively.”
