Small modern garden with water feature

A new housing development has been built on a former barracks site in Vught. Large existing trees have been retained, giving this neighborhood a mature and green character from the beginning. We created a modern and attractive garden within this framework.

Water play as an eye-catcher
A large black water feature is the eye-catcher in this patio. Summer and winter, both day and night. The raised water table is equipped with some LED lights. The sound of flowing water has a calming effect and dispels the background noise of the residential area. A wonderful place to unwind.

Multiple seating areas
an additional window was made in the kitchen overlooking the dining terrace. Initially, this wall was closed. Now that window is there it seems indispensable! The dining terrace fits exactly between the wall on the property line and the kitchen. With an adjustable parasol, the evening sun can be enjoyed or not as desired.

A raised decking platform has room for a lounger. Have a nice nap! Privacy is ensured by masonry walls interspersed with mesh fencing with Hedera. The view is blocked by some espaliers of Carpinus.

Strong relationship between inside and outside
Because of the placement of the terraces, the lines of sight from the interior are always unobstructed. See also this blog. The doors are almost automatically open at this house. Thus, inside and outside merge seamlessly.

The tiles are of a special type of concrete and highly compacted. This gives dirt virtually no chance to soak into it. Also because of its large size, this tile gives a very luxurious feel. The honest concrete combines beautifully with the hardwood decking and plane of gray split.

The planting consists of a balanced combination of evergreen and deciduous plants. Yew blocks and planes of Sesleria provide the green structure. The solitary Gleditsia does beautifully along with the modern Hydrangea varieties. Allium has been applied as a weaving plant.
