A long series of minimalist gestures highlights the graceful and impressive composition of ancient tree trunks.
The sleek trunks are a nice contrast to the natural forest edges in the background.
And the fields of ornamental grasses are a reference to the lush fields in the surrounding landscape.
The garden borders a nature reserve. The character of the entire area is defined by beech-birch forests and heathland.
The design chose to create a garden that is not subject to time and trends.
The slender lines contrast nicely with the natural shapes of the forest edges. The slopes of ornamental grasses are a reference to the lush heaths of the surrounding fields.
The most logical place for the pool would have been right next to the house, but as a landscape architect, I chose to place the pool deep in the garden. This changes the perception of the garden as a whole. By creating a pathway to somewhere, you reinforce the emotion generated by the place. The pool and bathhouse *are now located among the planes of ornamental grasses, at the edge of the forest. As a result, you feel a part of nature.
Strong horizontal lines connect the scale of the house to the scale of the garden and landscape.
* The concept of the pool and bathhouse design was developed in collaboration with BOS architects.
