Timeless elegance on the coast

Devos Interieur does not limit itself to its own province and realized this total project in Knokke. “We drew the design and had everything executed in collaboration with local partners. For the joinery, we worked with De Maatwerker, for the natural stone with Potier Stone, for the window coverings with HV-Interieur and for the paintwork with Luc Callant,” Christel De Vos says.

The builders of this new building are regular customers of Devos Interieur, people with whom the interior design store has built a long-standing relationship of trust. “It was our interior designer Pieter Cloet who sketched the visual line for this residence: a rather revolutionary design with an out of the box and out of the ordinary look.

MARITIME COLOR PALETTE
In the living room, the muted tones of the interior immediately reflect the colors of sea and beach. “We combined the Grande Soffice sofa by Edra with two iconic Capitol Complex armchairs by Pierre Jeanneret by Cassina. Such classics always retain their value, and here, in consultation with the client, we had them executed in a blue-gray mohair. This color balances the dark woodwork and is subtly reflected in the combination of decorative pillows.”

The table is a beautiful creation by interior designer Nathalie Deboel, executed in concrete ciré, a material similar to mortex. The organic design of the table is also seen in Henge’s Japanese-tinged chairs, which are almost more sculpture than chair,” said interior designer Pieter Cloet.

Pieter: “The joinery is heavy sandblasted oak that was then patinated and looks like it has already lived. All the natural stone, both indoors and outdoors, is then again silver travertine, and we have had it processed to be used in different ways (indoors, outdoors, on the floor, as a worktop, etc.).

“We used a different type of marble for each bathroom,” Pieter continues, “to evoke the atmosphere of a high-end bed and breakfast.” The use of artisanal materials of superior quality is a common thread at Devos Interior and, in this home, contributes to the atmosphere of weathered and stylized nonchalance.

Devos Interieur always opts for quality materials, both in the elaboration of the fixed furniture and in the choice of brands offered by the interior design store. “That’s why Baxter is one of the brands we often turn to. They work with leather of incomparable quality, treated so that it feels as comfortable, soft and sensual as fabric. Here we went for the ‘Bruxelles’ armchairs and the ‘Parsec’ desk, complemented by Charlotte Perriand’s LC7 chair by Cassina. We always go for that mix of new items and design classics, an indestructible combination for an interior.”

“In the master bedroom, we played with the direction of the joinery, in the same wood as throughout the house. In the dressing room, we combined the dark wood with Arte’s ‘Ridge’ 3D wallpaper that incorporates a pattern and is also soundproof. This wall covering feels like velvet and that soft texture is reflected in the floor and window coverings. The bed and bedside tables by Minotti were chosen in colors that bring tranquility to the room. That’s why we also matched all the lighting elements in the house in terms of color,” concludes Pieter
