Trowel-finished concrete floor in a renovated 1930s house

The light grey trowel-finished concrete floor sets the pace from the first view. It runs through the living room, kitchen, utility room, toilet and bedroom, so the rooms read as one route rather than separate stops. White walls and clean skirting lines keep the floor visible, while the mixed interior language of industrial, rustic and modern details appears in furniture, openings and finishes.

Flooring that carries through the house

What stands out most is the continuity underfoot. The concrete floor in multiple rooms has an even, trowel-finished surface with a pale grey tone that holds the light without drawing too much attention to itself. In the hallway views, the floor leads the eye toward the kitchen and living areas. Doorways stay open, so the same surface moves from one room to the next without a break in level or colour.

That uninterrupted run gives the renovation its clearest structure. Instead of changing material from space to space, the house keeps the same concrete floor in kitchen, living areas and smaller service zones. The result is direct and legible: a single base that ties the interior together while leaving room for darker cabinetry, white tile and timber details to do the talking.

Dark kitchen fronts against a light grey floor

The kitchen makes the contrast easy to read. Dark cabinet fronts with integrated handles line the wall, and a white tiled backsplash lifts the working area behind them. Below that, the light grey concrete floor keeps the room grounded and prevents the darker joinery from feeling heavy. A bar edge and stools extend the kitchen zone into the room, adding another horizontal line over the floor.

Seen from the wider interior images, the kitchen sits within the same floor field as the adjacent rooms. That is where the trowel-finished concrete floor works best: it allows the eye to move from the kitchen to the rest of the house without a visual reset. The surface stays calm while the cabinetry, tiles and timber edge introduce texture. In the frame, the floor is not a background afterthought. It is the element that lets the room stay open to the next one.

Concrete floor in the kitchen and utility areas

The utility room and kitchen share the same material logic. The concrete floor in kitchen areas continues into the practical zones, which keeps the floor plan visually consistent where daily movement is strongest. White doors and trim sharpen the edges of the rooms, and the neutral floor tone sits between them without competition. It is a straightforward choice, but one that makes the transitions easy to read in the photographs.

A toilet finished with the same material language

The toilet shows how the base grey concrete floor adapts to a smaller room without changing character. A dark wood-look accent wall and a recessed opening set up a stronger contrast here, while the floor remains plain and even below. Because the surface is the same as in the rest of the house, the toilet feels connected to the main route rather than treated as a separate insert.

That consistency matters in a renovation like this. The concrete floor in toilet, hallway and living spaces keeps the palette restrained: grey underfoot, white around the openings, dark tones where emphasis is needed. Nothing is overstated. The room simply picks up the same language and continues it in a tighter frame.

Close-up details of the trowel finish

The detail images make the finish easier to read. The trowelled surface appears smooth and even, with a slight reflection where light falls across it. In one close-up, the floor sits beside a guitar detail and metal fittings, which shows how the material holds its own next to sharper objects and harder edges. Another image places the same grey floor under industrial lighting and wall art, again keeping the focus on the surface rather than decoration.

These tighter views matter because they show the floor as a material, not just as a colour. The light grey concrete floor has enough variation to stay interesting, yet it remains visually quiet in the room. That balance is what makes it suitable for a house where furniture, prints, lamps and openings already bring plenty of texture.

Industrial lines, rustic notes and a plain grey base

The interior mixes industrial, rustic and modern cues without pushing any of them too far. A dining table with industrial pendant lights sits over the same concrete floor, while open niches, timber fronts and a few decorative objects soften the sharper lines around it. In the living areas, white frames, plastered walls and built-in openings keep the rooms bright, but the floor prevents the setting from becoming fragile or overly polished.

That mix is easiest to understand in the wider views. The concrete floor in multiple rooms gives the house a stable base, and the rest of the interior builds on top of it with contrast. Dark furniture, white tile, timber and metal each show up clearly because the floor stays restrained. It is a renovation defined less by ornament than by surface and route.

Across the living room, kitchen, utility room, toilet and bedroom, the trowel-finished concrete floor keeps the same measured presence. It connects the spaces, but it also leaves each one readable. The kitchen brings in dark fronts and tile, the toilet adds a deeper accent wall, and the open living zones introduce furniture, light and wall decor. Through all of it, the light grey concrete floor remains the constant element underfoot.
