Viewing house Dauby Borgerhout
Welcome, in the Van der Keilenstraat 23 Borgerhout
This building housed Cordemans cookie factory in 1890 with a small, alert, Breton letter carrier as its logo.
In the same year, Eduard Parein took over the Cordemans cookie factory with the intention of helping his sons Louis and Pierre get jobs, and creating a new outlet for his flour. Soon the Cordemans factory was bursting at the seams, and a new site had to be purchased. A new location was found on the site of the 1894 World’s Fair, to the south of the city of Antwerp.
Later, in 1895, the Cordemans brand was replaced by the Parein brand, later de Beukelaer and then LU.But the first Petit Beurre cookie was made here at the Cordemans factory. After being owned by various private owners for more than 100 years, it was purchased by Dauby.
Dauby turned it into a unique viewing house. Take a look at “House Parein.”
