Villa BB
The design of a home in a special place, with an ambitious client, a “difficult” plot and the restrictions of an old zoning plan were the ingredients for a surprisingly contemporary home.
In this design, architect Bart de Groof made optimal use of the strong points of the plot, which is quite deep, but narrow and borders a public water feature on the side. The house offers openness and views of the places where it is possible and desirable and provides security and privacy in the other areas. The light house is mainly constructed of concrete, brick, glass and aluminum facades and has a clear separation between the main and outbuilding.
The height differences created and the open floor plan provide the desired spaciousness in the interior. The used skylights – for example above the imposing kitchen block – and the other windows, give the sun the opportunity to heat and illuminate the home.
