Villa Duinrand

There was a challenge to accentuate the right characteristic elements of this 70s home and still give the house a modern contemporary look. ZW6 | Studio Jeroen van Zwetselaar lacked beautiful lines of sight and connection with the environment. The house felt like being locked up, while we strive for freedom.
 
By involving the indoor garage as a luxury workspace in the living room, we created a long line of sight from the front to the back of the house. Both facades are almost entirely of glass, creating a beautiful light throughout the house. The light also strengthens the sight lines, which ensure that the house feels spacious.
 
The dark kitchen is a daring choice because it is located in the darkest part of the house. But it attracts attention, because the spaces around it are kept beautifully light and natural. The living room and dining room are situated on the garden side of the house and have a large, light and airy character. Because the living room does not play a role in the main line of sight in the house, you feel the desired security here.
 
The routing has been completely overhauled. The original passage to the living room has become a large piece of glass, so that you now walk through the middle of the house towards the kitchen that was originally in the front house.
The brown, soft and pleated leather matches the color of the warm wood, which is reflected in the custom furniture throughout the entire villa. The wooden line structure refers to the old wood slats detailing that were in the house. The fresh soft green colors make a connection with the outside and the plants that you will find throughout the house. Copper has been used in a subtle way. The large planter in the living room is a striking piece of furniture. With one click on the button, a television screen for the plants scrolls upwards.
 
The wide and bold color palette melts beautifully together and creates a warm atmosphere within the villa. The lighting brings a magical spectacle to the interior and ensures the right tension in the various rooms.
