Villa on the water

This new villa is situated on a spacious plot surrounded by water and farmlands. The first sketch that Jasper and Carlo made fully met the wishes of the clients and of the municipality and was in fact executed exactly the same way. The wish list included: contact with the garden and water, eventually the possibility to sleep on the ground floor, a beautiful living room, a spacious kitchen and sufficient storage space. And for the floor three bedrooms and a bathroom. Energy efficiency was also a priority. These wishes were translated into a practically arranged house that, by placing it on a raised terrace, has optimal contact with the environment. As an architectural statement, a curl has been created from the terrace, which continues into the facade and the roof molding. This powerful line is completed with materials such as cedar wood and stucco for the facade and anthra zinc for the roof finish. A brick chimney provides a tough accent.

The villa is designed on the environment and has many sight lines leading to the garden and water. Wide storey-high windows bring nature indoors. The void connects the kitchen and the floor. The study is accessible from the hall and the kitchen, which can be used as a bedroom in the future. The archive room next to it is easy to convert into a bathroom; the pipes are already there. At the request of the residents, the house has been given a very high insulation value, and in addition, the flat roof of the outbuilding in which the garage and utility room have a place, is filled with solar panels that generate electricity. Because this roof has been deepened, the panels are hidden from view.
