Wellness Resort & Hotel
The centuries-old fortress that houses Fort Resort Beemster is part of the Defence Line of Amsterdam and is on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. To ensure that the facade remained intact, digging had to be done to a depth of 10 meters. The walls (which are as much as two meters deep at some points) have been cut through to form a skylight, allowing daylight to penetrate the deepest depths.
Due to the unusual and unusual layout of the spaces, almost everything was done by hand; from the Hammam in gold leaf to the glass walkways. Every piece of furniture in this place was made by Osiris Hertman. Nothing is what it seems; the “pebbles” in and around the pools are actually specially baked tiles, since real pebbles would become dull from chlorine.
