Recipe | Beer Can Chicken

Ingredients

For the chicken

  • 1 organic chicken
  • olive oil
  • 1 can of Radler (half-full)
  • 1 lime
  • 1 lemon

For the rub

  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 full tbsp paprika
  • 3 full tbsp dark caster sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cloves
  • 1 full tsp of onion powder
  • 1 full tsp cumin powder
  • 1 full tsp garlic powder

Preparation

Light the Big Green Egg. Place the convEGGtor in the EGG with the legs up, close the lid and bring to a temperature of 180 °C.

Meanwhile, mix together all the ingredients for the rub. Carefully loosen the skin from the chicken meat by putting fingers under the skin and moving from side to side. Spread some of the rub between the skin and meat and rub it in well. Also sprinkle some rub in the cavity of the chicken. Rub the skin well with olive oil and also sprinkle it with the rub until it is completely covered.

Clip the half-full can of Radler into the Folding Stainless Beer Can Chicken Roaster and place the chicken over it. Place in the Round Drip Pan and place in the center of the convEGGtor.

Close the lid of the EGG and cook the bear can chicken for 60-70 minutes.

Remove the Drip Pan from the EGG with the EGGmitt on and grate some lime and lemon zest over the beer can chicken before serving.
