Wajer Yachts opens boathouse designed by Studio Piet Boon

Heeg, December 8, 2022 – On the grounds of its yacht yard in Heeg, Friesland, Wajer Yachts has opened a new boathouse under the design direction of Studio Piet Boon. Designed entirely around the Wajer yachts, the 350m2 building reflects the craftsmanship and passion for materials. Eyecatcher is the gigantic indoor berth of 8 by 27 meters where even the largest model, the Wajer 77, can enter. In addition to the reception area, which overlooks the mooring, the boathouse offers meeting rooms, lounges and terraces. See video here .

Wajer Yachts had the boathouse built to welcome customers in an inspiring environment completely tailored to its yachts. The fireplace, large armchairs and spacious living kitchen create a homey atmosphere. The reception area, where customers can select the colors and materials for their Wajer, offers a view of the indoor berth through a glass wall. From the oak platform, the view of the boats, lit by spotlights, is even better. A coffee and champagne bar has also been considered for extra festive deliveries.

Exterior
The exterior of the boathouse is sturdy and timeless, with insulated exterior sheeting and profiled black steel sheets for the roof.

The property is edged by wide wooden jetties that transition into oak terraces. Adjacent to one of the terraces is room for 5 berths.

Interior
The interior looks rich and balanced, with high 3.5-meter ceilings and a meticulously thought-out lighting plan. The large 1.20-by-1.20-meter floor tiles seamlessly match the walls in color. The steel interior doors and frames are also the same color. A floating acoustic ceiling, accented by lighting all around, provides pleasant attenuation.

The custom furniture, also designed by Studio Piet Boon, is made of solid oak with Belgian bluestone details. All scale models, brochures and (color) samples can be stored and displayed in it.

Self-sufficient
The boathouse is heated by underfloor heating through a heat pump coupled with 720 solar panels on the roof of the production halls.

Dries Wajer, Managing Director Wajer Yachts: “The Boathouse is built around our yachts like a jacket, everything is geared towards experiencing the quality and love for the product. We can’t wait to welcome our customers from home and abroad there.”

Designer Piet Boon: “The DNA of Piet Boon and Wajer is similar in many ways. We are two Dutch companies with global reach that stand for timeless and elegant design. In the design for this boathouse our expertise and qualities come together.”
