A Green Oasis
The historic Boshof villa is located on the edge of the dunes. The writer Godfried Bomans lived here for years. Now it is the modern, elegant base of a young family.
The house was originally from the parents of the owner and the question arose: how do you turn your parental home into your home? The couple ended up at Stock Interiors. The proposal to turn the original, classic sitting room into an elegant, modern living kitchen appealed to and became the starting point for redesigning the house. All spaces changed function and were tackled rigorously.
“Now it really feels like our home” The kitchen was fitted with hand-made cupboards reaching to the ceiling and a cooking island in the middle. There was also an American mudroom with ample storage space for all sportswear, jackets and bags. The former dining room has been transformed into a library and sitting room in which the authentic fireplace from the original sitting room has been placed. There were 2 children’s bedrooms in the attic and a third children’s bedroom on the first floor. Because there was little light coming into this room of origin, a roof terrace, window and sliding door were created. You can plop down on the blue, custom-made couch in the television room, also a new room in the house. The fabric looks like velvet, but is made of material that is durable and washable. On the couch are pillows with large, striking patterns and colorful pipings. They give the room an exciting twist. To add more depth to the interior, wallpaper with a special texture was chosen. The conservatory, bedrooms and walk-in wardrobe followed. Even the w.c. got wallpaper; the wallpaper is reminiscent of mosaic, as you often see in houses on the coast. “Already it really feels like our home, and no longer like that of my in-laws. Everything falls into place here. “
