Colorful farmhouse

Once upon a time, there was a romantic little farmhouse in the green… This looks like the beginning of a fairy tale, and there is something magical about some of Team Meijs’ projects, too. Gijs Havermans tells how special the contact with the residents, a congenial middle-aged couple, was established and continued.

Gijs: “Corrie and Gerard came to our store for a sitting area. Upon its delivery, they invited me to come take a look. I immediately understood why they fell in love with this house. It has an authentic, intimate atmosphere that calls for something special in terms of furnishings. In any case, I was glad that they asked me for advice. Slowly but surely a warm relationship developed, where we really started to work together and exchange creative ideas. How does something like that work out? Well, we call and app on a regular basis. Even in the evening or on weekends. The other day my friend Bianca said: ‘You almost have more contact with Corrie than with me…’ Gijs laughs. ‘All kidding aside; for example, she sent me the picture of their closet asking if I knew a lamp that would look nice with it. I understand her style and immediately knew which one it should be.’

Nothing is boring
Gus enjoys the distinct flavor. ‘It makes me very present. Nothing is boring or standard. Corrie in particular likes to give the interior a colorful, theatrical twist. This creates bold combinations that are always original and tasteful.’ Together they furnished a special room for the grandchildren, curtains from Meijs Wonen were placed throughout the house and they chose – the leather table designed by Gijs himself. ‘By now we have established such a relationship of trust that I know where the key is and can enter if required. You don’t often experience that, of course. It illustrates how creative people can find each other in the love of beauty. An inspiring interaction from which the most beautiful things arise.’
