Country private garden with swimming pool and thatched garden house

Open lawn, a straight-edged water surface, and a thatched roof set the tone before anything else. The garden was designed around the client’s wishes, but it also had to deal with practical limits: part of the site lay in an agricultural zone, drainage was almost absent, and the soil was clay. Those conditions shaped the plan as much as the visible lines do. The result is a swimming pool in garden setting with room around it, clear routes, and long views across the grass.

Swimming pool in garden as a spatial starting point

The strongest impression is the amount of open ground left between the built elements. The lawn stretches out instead of being chopped into small rooms, and that gives the pool area its scale. Straight edges keep the layout readable. Nothing drifts into an overly busy composition. The water sits low and calm, while the surrounding grass softens the transition from terrace to garden. That openness matches the original brief: a country garden with lawn rather than a dense, enclosed scheme.

The pool edge is finished with a neat line that keeps the basin visually contained. In the photos, the dark coping makes the water surface read even more sharply against the pale paving and green lawn. It is a simple move, but it carries the whole scene. A neat pool edge gives the water line a precise finish, and it allows the pool to sit comfortably beside the terrace without losing its own shape. The rectangular geometry also helps the garden feel measured rather than rigid.

Terrace surfaces that hold the composition

Large natural stone slabs define the covered terrace and the area around the swimming zone. Their size slows the eye down. Instead of a broken pattern, the paving reads as broad planes underfoot. The terrace is not treated as a separate decorative element; it is part of the way the garden is organized. This is where the stone does its work, giving the covered outdoor zone a stable base and linking it to the pool with a direct, unbroken surface.

Oak wood appears in the construction details, and it gives the sheltering structure a clear frame. The timber posts carry the roof without visual fuss, so the material relationship remains easy to read: wood above, stone below, water beside it. The project also mentions Vietnamese natural stone, which belongs to the material palette described for the garden. Here, the important point is not excess variety but the way the surfaces were chosen to support the calm geometry of the layout. The terrace becomes a measured pause between house and pool.

A covered terrace made for long views

From under the cover, the pool reads as a broad rectangle beyond the posts. That view matters. It connects the shaded seating area to the open grass and the reflective water outside it. The roofline, with its thatch, softens the upper edge of the composition, while the large paving slabs keep the lower edge disciplined. The space between them stays open, with no clutter to interrupt the sightline across the lawn.

The construction of the thatched roof garden house gives the garden a rural note without turning it into a theme. The roof sits on a timber frame, and the material pairing is easy to understand from the photos. The thatch breaks the hardness of the stone and the straight pool line, while the oak structure underneath keeps the building grounded. Seen from the garden, the house works almost like a marker: it anchors one side of the plan and frames the pool from behind. Swimming pool in garden remains connected to the layout, materials and daily use of the home.

Swimming pool in garden as a spatial starting point

Elsewhere in the garden, the routes are kept just as clear. A straight natural stone stepping path appears in the lawn, and in another view a narrow path is made with brick pavers. Both avoid fuss. They connect different parts of the plot without cutting the grass into fragments. The stepping stones sit lightly in the turf, while the pavers form a more defined strip. Together they show how circulation can stay practical while still preserving the open feeling of the garden.

The use of brick pavers garden path brings a firmer rhythm to the side and front areas, where the geometry becomes more compact. The line of paving leads the eye forward, and the low planting on either side keeps it contained. In the images, these paths work almost like drawn lines through the plot, guiding movement without needing strong borders. They also echo the straight paving joints around the pool, so the whole garden retains one visual language even as the functions change.

Planting along hedges and open edges

Planting is used to frame the open surfaces rather than crowd them. Along the hedges, low and higher layers create a soft edge around the lawn and path views. The planting does not try to hide the structure of the garden; it supports it. That is especially visible where the greenery meets the paved areas. The border plants sit close to the ground, and the hedge line holds the back edge of the composition in place. This is where the garden gains depth without losing its openness.

The source describes carefully chosen plants fitted to this garden, and the images show why that matters. Their role is to work with the straight lines, the pale stone, and the broad lawn rather than compete with them. The palette stays restrained: green grass, dark water edges, grey stone, and the brown tone of timber and thatch. A planting along hedges approach suits that palette well, because it frames the spaces instead of filling every gap. The garden can breathe, but it never feels empty.

Swimming pool in garden as a spatial starting point

The material list is short, which helps the project stay legible. Oak wood, a thatched roof, Vietnamese natural stone, clay pavers, and the chosen planting all have distinct roles. None of them shouts. The timber carries the roof, the stone gives the terrace its weight, and the pavers create a path language that can shift between formal and casual movement. Even the clay soil and drainage issues belong in this material story, because they explain why the garden needed a plan that could handle the site before it could simply be drawn as a picture.

What remains after all the practical constraints is a country garden with lawn, a pool, and a garden house that sits comfortably in the landscape. The design does not rely on ornament. It uses proportion, straight lines, and well-chosen surfaces to make the open space readable. Seen across the full sequence of photos, the garden moves from path to terrace to water and back to grass, with each element holding its place. That is what gives the project its clarity: every part is visible, and every part has room to breathe.
