Origami Influenced Shore Home

This newly married couple in their 60’s wanted a water front home where their blended family could join them to enjoy weekends. Pavarini Design used a black and white color scheme in the entire house to draw in the beauty of the outside and to enhance the drama of the color in the couple’s extensive art collection.

The thread of geometric details inspired by origami, marries the interior design with the contemporary architecture. The soaring dimensional-tile fireplace wall is the first introduction to the Asian influence in the house while a custom wave-shaped sofa subtly brings the ocean into the room by giving a water view to every seat on the sofa.

The spare design of the kitchen stands out using stone-lined walls without upper cabinets. In lieu of recessed lights the dropped soffit features linear LED lighting over the countertops. A game table doubles as a breakfast table near a generously proportioned cabinet, clad in a patina bronze finish.

Black-stained bead-board ceiling in the double-height main room continues into the upper level Master Bedroom. Utilizing picture windows as walls in the Master Bedroom, they overlook the main living space, allowing light and water views in.

The “Zen Room” is for quiet conversation while doubling as a guest room, with a pull-out sofa.  The splash of color in the rug pulls from the rare caramel amethyst specimen by a monumental antique lamp.  TV, music and fun happen in the Family Room where the layers of pattern keep the room lively.
