Renovation house Amsterdam Oud-Zuid

Location and history
The house is located in the Van Eeghenstraat in the chic Amsterdam neighborhood of Oud-Zuid near the Vondelpark.

At the end of the 19th century, the land along the Vondelpark in the Willemspark neighborhood was owned by N.V. De Bouwonderneming Willemspark. About eight (Baptist) Amsterdammers had united in this construction company, with the goal of preventing any more wealthy Amsterdammers from moving to the Haarlem area or the Gooi region.

The house was built in 1893. In 1977, the house was thoroughly remodeled and a new foundation and rear facade were added. Since then, the interior of the house had not changed.

Design
The renovation plan was twofold. On the one hand, the facade was completely restored. Thus, the facade was cleaned and the original cut joints were restored. On the other hand, the entire interior was renovated and an extension was installed at the rear. The expansion created a direct relationship with the garden from the basement.

A large eat-in kitchen was created in the basement with island and oak bar. The Bulthaup kitchen has handleless, push-pull drawers and a heat-resistant kitchen worktop. A four-season front is installed in the extension that can be fully opened. The basement also received a guest room with en-suite bathroom.

On the bell floor, the original front and back rooms have been restored. On the second floor is the master bedroom with en-suite bathroom and walk-in closet. The master bedroom is acoustically insulated through a special free-hanging sound-absorbing ceiling. There are two additional bedrooms on this floor.
