Seating areas create rich garden experience
This long-gabled farmstead grew over time into a glorified square farmstead. That provided an exciting starting point for the design. The outbuildings created a sheltered courtyard that we converted into a terrace. Large format tiles define the seating area, platines indicate the walking axes in the interior area. The same material also forms the driveway to the rear of the building. Slate trees emphasize the length of road next to the house.
An immense expanse of grass is iconic to the backyard. The edges of the grassy area are bordered with plant borders. Here and there different seating areas are set up that guarantee a different experience. A first sitting area is a second terrace at the house. If necessary, residents can create a shelter here with tarpaulin to find protection from the sun or rain.
A second sitting area a little further away nestles near a water feature. A sycamore roof here provides security and shade. From the terrace, a water feature accompanies a path to a final covered terrace. A fireplace makes this sitting area a cozy gathering spot for cool summer nights.
