Something Old, Something New
A beautiful old building in the heart of our provincial capital. Radiant with characteristic grandeur with the ornaments, high ceilings and colorful stained glass. What a treat to get to work there with Meijs magic and a hefty dose of passion!
Interior designer Denise Kwinten was pleased that Architectenbureau ZOUT had tipped off the home’s owners to engage Meijs Wonen. ‘The residents, a young couple, came to me with clear wishes. They wanted to make the most of the space with a mature interior, while maintaining atmosphere and authenticity.’
Light and dark
“I came up with a coherence of different elements – furniture, art and styling – that not only form a nice mix, but enhance the property and each other in strength,” Denise says. ‘Because the rooms are light and high, I chose dark furniture, such as the blue modular sofa by Montis. Beautiful in the living room, which is always cozy thanks to Brokis’ atmospheric lighting. Even (or especially) during rainy winter months.’
Wake up luxuriously
‘The centerpiece of the dining room is the table by Arco, combined with chairs by Label. See how much impact the paintings by Cobra art have? Because dark tones were also used for the wall furniture, the colors splash off and have become real eye-catchers.’ When furnishing the guest room and bedroom, Denise implemented the same style. ‘As an extra, I had a custom pouf made, at the foot of the bed. Together with the high back wall it gives a Hotel Chic atmosphere. Nice and luxurious waking up here!
