The Fifth Floor

The coupling of two apartments created the opportunity to create a 32-meter-long loft with a unique 180° view of the Antwerp Scheldt quays. The interior renovation was conceived as an experiment in contemporary living. The result is a powerful, contemporary statement in dialogue with the characteristic view of the Scheldt and its banks.

Central to the space was the kitchen, which serves as a connecting bar element between the living and dining areas. By using mirror glass in the wine cabinet, the connection of the Scheldt is also visible while cooking. The river’s references were carried further into the interior as well. With the right incidence of light on the gray-green Evolin natural stone from Vals that was used as flooring, the Scheldt, as it were, flows into the spacious loft.

The undulating pattern on the dark stained cabinetry separating the day from the night area also refers to the undulations of the river. That undulation is also reflected in the door handles designed by B BRAND for this cabinetry.

Finally, the floating wall cabinets behind the kitchen unit were covered with an innovative quartz veneer that refers to the sparkles on the water.Furthermore, a dark and intimate material palette was chosen. The black textured paint used on the ceilings and walls creates a cool, yet intimate atmosphere. The fully glazed facade makes the choice of this dark material palette possible. Even in the evening, in combination with the carefully designed lighting plan, this creates a unique atmosphere, the link to an exclusive nightclub or cocktail bar is never far away.

The two 98″ screens provided in the living and dining areas also reinforce the cosmopolitan character of the loft.To complete the look, the interior was complemented with B BRAND furniture tailored to the project. Thus, in the dining and living area, there is a variant of the CROSS TABLE, this time equipped with a black-stained worktop combined with five green-anodized aluminum legs. The SHARD and two study models of the STACK CHAIR also serve as multipurpose furniture around the bar counter in the kitchen.
