Tiny holiday home Vinkeveen

On the Vinkeveen lakes, i29 interior architects and Chris Collaris built a Tiny Holiday Home. With an area of only 55 square meters, the house establishes a direct relationship with the surrounding natural area throughout. The clever layout ensures optimal use of all spaces.

Tiny Holiday Home is located on an elongated island plot by the lake. In positioning the volume, i29 interior architects and Chris Collaris sought the relationship with the water and the sun. Dividing the volume into four sections creates unique views and light in each space.

The cottage is designed for a family of four. On the available 55 square meters, a living room, a live-in kitchen, a patio, three bedrooms, a bathroom and two toilets are fitted in. In doing so, the architects worked from the inside out so that they could arrange the program optimally.

The four building sections differ from each other in size and positioning. This creates a special home that looks different from all sides. The minimalist detailing of the wooden facades reinforces these sculptural qualities. Fully opening the large windows and sliding doors creates a strong relationship between interior and landscape. On the inside, the dimensions and ceiling heights of the various volumes clearly reflect the individual areas and functions in the house. However, long sightlines provide a strong visual connection. By opening large sliding patio doors, the volumes of the kitchen and living room are even physically connected.

Custom-made furniture and built-in cabinets accentuate the graphic quality of the interior. i29 interior architects and Chris Collaris made extensive use of simple materials, such as oak panels and a continuous polished concrete floor. The black panels reference the rough pine facade, bringing architecture and interior together.
