White Tulip
A delicate and refined collection, the first complete bathroom series by Philippe Starck
White Tulip is the first complete bathroom entirely designed by Philippe Starck. From bathtubs, sinks and furniture, toilets and bidets, to matching mirrors and a complete faucet collection. The particular shape of all parts of this series follows the organic silhouette of a flowering tulip, creating an almost sculptural and affectionate character. Expressive details and timeless design combined with first-class craftsmanship and the latest technologies meet the highest demands.
With their unique ergonomics and ability to blend into a wide range of styles, the versatile designs of the White Tulip collection are ideal for any interior – from the cultured and sophisticated urban environment to the fresh and natural ambience of a country home.
“My collaboration with Duravit always naturally tended toward minimalist and timeless designs. Yet I realized that this perfection was perhaps missing a parameter, a sense of positive nostalgia. Instead of creating absolutely timeless pieces, I wanted to place the White Tulip collection more in human time; it could be an old collection that would have been modern at the time, or a modern collection with memories of the past. White Tulip is a very refined collection with a strong sense of ergonomics, but above all the delicate and affectionate makes the difference. “, Philippe Starck.
A special eye-catcher is the free-standing ceramic basin designed as a monolith, which is available with wall or floor connection depending on the structural conditions. In the same style, the round countertop basin convinces with its aesthetically shaped, slightly outward sloping rim. The rectangular basin seen from above also takes this shape. It is also available as a sink cabinet in two sizes. A washbasin, also available with a sink cabinet, completes the range.
Matching the refined ceramics are standing and wall-hung toilets and bidets. The style of White Tulip collection is also evident on the accompanying urinal. The toilets feature the new HygieneFlush flushing technology. Independent tests show that this new type of surface rinse optimally cleans the entire inner surface of the toilet. The perfectly thought-out water flow creates a vortex that guarantees an ideal flush with 4.5 liters of water at all times.
For even more hygiene, all new HygieneFlush toilets come standard with the proven HygieneGlaze ceramic glaze. Burned into the toilet, HygieneGlaze kills about 90% of bacteria after just six hours and about 99.9% (e.g. E. coli bacteria) after 24 hours. The excellent quality at White Tulip is also reflected in Duravit’s new lifetime warranty on the ceramics in the series.
The matching furniture is just as elegant and sophisticated as the complete series. Highly detailed, finished mitered edges underscore the precise character of White Tulip furniture, whose widths range from 350 to 1300 mm. The furniture and matching half-height cabinets with two or three glass shelves are available in five high-quality, solid colors with a high-gloss or satin finish. Alternatively, a solid wood surface – natural oak or American walnut – can be chosen for the front.
The semi-gloss surfaces of the furniture offer a special advantage: on this special lacquer surface, small scratches almost “disappear” by themselves, so that the furniture always looks like new. Moreover, cleaning and maintenance are particularly easy thanks to the special anti-fingerprint coating.
The optional, chrome handle is an eye-catching design element. It can be used as a contrast to matte lacquer and solid wood surfaces, or as an added effect on high-gloss lacquer. The drawers are self-closing and are equipped with movable ring-shaped furniture handles. In the variant without handle, they are equipped with tip-on technology and can thus be easily operated with light pressure. The illuminated drawers turn on and off automatically when opening and closing.
The combination of the round sink with the matching base cabinet, available in all White Tulip furniture surfaces, offers even more practical storage space. The color of the boards is free to choose. Another special furnishing element is the standing chrome console with wooden shelf, which can also be equipped with one or two round towel holders placed on the side.
Matching mirrors from the White Tulip series are available as sensor or app versions. The mirrored glass, placed forward, provides an exciting look. This makes the mirror surface around the light field appear almost transparent. The light temperature with memory effect can be synchronized and controlled with other linked lights via the “Casambi” app, which has become a fixture in smarthome applications. In addition, the mirrors can be dimmed and the mirror heater turned on and off.
The freestanding bathtub with seamless acrylic lining follows the shape of the ceramic. The oval version is available in two sizes: 1800×800 mm and 1600×900 mm for smaller spaces. The special round bathtub with a diameter of 1400 mm offers plenty of interior space and is a real eye-catcher.
With White Tulip, Philippe Starck designed a range of faucets for Duravit for the first time. A continuous design element is the tulip-shaped handle, which takes on the shape of sink and bathtub and is particularly easy and pleasant to use due to its finely polished surface. 160 fine, vertically engraved stripes create a particularly elegant effect at the same time. Sink mixers are available in different comfort heights S, M and XL. There are also bidet, shower and bath faucets.
The delicate and sophisticated minimal lines of the White Tulip series will add an elegant touch to any room. Thoughtful technologies such as HygieneFlush and HygieneGlaze, tip-on technology and self-closing as well as mirror heating and adjustable lighting via app round out the daily feel-good experience.
