Meeuwis de Vries Gardens

Castle garden Museum More

Ruurlo Castle is, due to its location in the landscape and rich history of 700 years, one of the most beautiful castles in the Achterhoek. The building and its surroundings tell the rich history from the 14th century to the present and, as a result, have acquired the status of a Dutch National Monument. This garden has been realized by Meeuwis de Vries Tuinen.

Relive Old Times with a modern twist
With this plan, Meeuwis de Vries Tuinen brings history back to life and provides insight into the development of the estate in different time periods. The typical 18th-century front garden with geometric boxwood motifs from the French garden period have been renovated. In addition, the surrounding landscape park has been stripped of disturbing planting and new paths and plantings have been installed to match the English landscape style. This makes the castle park after renovation once again become one with the renovated castle. The total picture is right again and radiates peace and simplicity, as if this garden has been there for centuries!
