Coincidence does not exist in this garden in Oegstgeest
After a thorough internal remodeling with modern expansion, it was immediately decided, after opening the sliding doors, to create the existing garden in its entirety from scratch. The designer worked closely with the interior designer, which produced a perfect end result. The peace and simplicity you find inside matches wonderfully with the feeling the garden gives you.
The front yard offers more privacy and the entrance is enhanced by the path of floating tiles that runs diagonally to the front door. The quarry slate specially imported from northern France for this project gives the huge custom concrete slabs of up to 10m2 each all the attention. The planting looks like it grew there spontaneously, but if you look closely you can see that every plant has been thought about to achieve a perfect balance.
Through the side we enter the backyard where the sunken seat is accented by a wooden bench that turns into the jetty towards the water. This jetty, which runs the entire width of the garden, transcends the functional and is a true architectural statement in this garden.
Minimalism flourishes thanks to subtle contrasts. The garden looks very sleek, but if you look closely it actually isn’t. The borders undulate with the lawn and the minimalist planting is just right for the entire style of house and garden. The designer managed to put everything in the right proportions. With grand gestures and very small details, nothing is dominant in this garden, but nothing is out of place either.
