Renovation apartment Amsterdam

Location and history
The apartment is located on Vossiusstraat in the chic Amsterdam neighborhood of Oud-Zuid directly adjacent to the Vondelpark. The architect of the linked townhouses on this street is Izak Gosschalk (Amsterdam, April 18, 1838 – Brussels, October 10, 1907). Izak Gosschalk was born in a house on Amsterdam’s Nieuwe Herengracht, the son of a Jewish doctor. Between 1858 and 1862, he trained as a structural engineer at the Eidgenössisches Polytechnikum in Zurich. Between 1875 and 1887, Gosschalk was a city councilman in Amsterdam. The mansions, looking like a city palace, were built in an eclectic architectural style commissioned by Mr. F.H. Wente. The townhouses with all the apartments are registered as National Monuments. The apartment had been thoroughly remodeled at the beginning of this century in an English classical style divided into many small rooms.

Design
The apartment has been very thoroughly remodeled and is currently used as a pied-à-terre. The entire apartment has been gutted and all pre-walls and subdivision walls have been removed. A new layout was created in which our design placed the gas fireplace at a central point in the heart of the home. The fireplace is visible from the living room, dining room and kitchen. The master bedroom has a custom designed closet and en-suite bathroom. The entire house is high-end finished with high-quality materials and equipped with modern technical installations. In addition to the steel entry facade over 3 more high, there is a tiled herringbone floor, and a bulthaup kitchen with island and bar. The home is equipped with luxury lighting, plumbing fixtures and a home automation system. All the cabinetry and kitchen in the project were also designed by us.
