Egide Meertens Plus Architecten

Egide Meertens Plus Architecten is commercially and creatively led and inspired by Egide Meertens. Together with a team of architects and interior architects, they form a dynamic studio of 12 people that approaches every assignment with an integrated method and a constant search for the right solution.

Our focus is on private total projects, with exterior and interior aligned in one coherent whole. We take these projects from A to Z in hand: from concept to realisation, always guided by a single vision. Our completed projects include homes in Belgium and the Netherlands, as well as group housing, high-quality public commissions, and commercial and public buildings.

Our team guarantees a high level of involvement at every stage. Egide personally follows up each project, including the building site, with the permanent support of one or more team members, allowing for a flexible way of working. With four certified EPB reporters in-house, we can also include EPB reporting in our services, and we are able to carry out safety coordination as well.

Our Vision

Our projects are based on a clear, well-considered concept that grows out of the unique character of the client and the surrounding environment. In our designs, we deliberately seek sober, simple spaces with a strong sense of experience; designs that can be flexibly interpreted and in which people can live. The result is solid architecture without unnecessary embellishment, tailored to the needs of the users and their context. Throughout the design process, we never lose sight of our clients’ wishes and requirements, while always aiming to strengthen the project with our own contribution. We choose quality over fashionable statements and superfluous luxury, and strive for atmosphere and spatial experience.

Egide Meertens Plus Architecten translates ideas into concepts that we shape and realise in practice, with creativity, budget, authenticity, timing, construction management and craftsmanship as our guiding principles.

Method

For the execution, architect Egide Meertens, director of Egide Meertens Plus Architecten, is the contact person responsible for the initial discussions and the contractual and financial negotiations prior to the start of the file. He is also the project architect who follows up the design process, the concept lead for the design, and the person who knows the project file thoroughly in both content and administration. The project architect is the main point of contact for the client. He leads the discussions, organises meetings, coordinates the design process, and oversees the control of the works and deliveries.

The project team is further expanded with one or more staff members who can take on specific tasks. Through internal office meetings, everyone is involved in the project to a greater or lesser extent and has sufficient prior knowledge of it, enabling the design team to be strengthened at a later stage.
